How to Activate God's Power: Three Biblical Principles for Receiving Miracles

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to experience God's power while others struggle to see breakthrough in their lives? The story of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 reveals powerful principles about how spiritual power flows according to divine laws.

Understanding Spiritual Laws

Just as the physical world operates according to natural laws—gravity, electricity, thermodynamics—the spiritual realm also functions according to established principles. We can count on gravity to remain constant, the sun to rise each morning, and the seasons to change predictably. Similarly, God has established spiritual laws that govern how His power flows.

Romans 1:20 tells us, "For his invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived ever since the creation of the world in the things that he has made." We can look to nature to understand God's character and how He operates.

Why Doesn't God's Power Flow Randomly?

God doesn't arbitrarily decide to bless one person while withholding from another. He shows no partiality, as Peter declared in Acts 10:34-35: "Truly, I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him."

The power of God flows based on certain laws and principles. Through Jesus Christ, God has already provided all the promises found in His Word—life, health, and blessing. The question isn't whether God wants to bless us, but whether we understand how to access what He's already made available.

The Woman Who Took Initiative

In Mark 5:25-29, we read about a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years. She had spent everything on physicians but only grew worse. Yet when she encountered Jesus, something remarkable happened—she received her healing without Jesus even knowing it initially.

When Jesus realized power had gone out from Him, He asked, "Who touched me?" After the woman was identified, Jesus said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well" (Mark 5:34). Notice He didn't say "I have made you well" or "God has made you well," but "your faith has made you well."

Three Principles for Activating God's Power

1. Hearing Stories About Jesus

The scripture tells us this woman "had heard the reports about Jesus." Romans 10:17 declares, "Faith comes from hearing." Faith isn't something we can manufacture through willpower alone—it comes through hearing testimonies of God's goodness and power.

When we consistently hear stories of healing, breakthrough, and God's faithfulness, faith begins to rise in our hearts. This is why testimonies are so powerful in building faith for miracles.

2. Moving Toward Your Miracle

The woman didn't wait passively for Jesus to notice her. James 2:17 reminds us that "faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." She took deliberate action, positioning herself to encounter Jesus despite the risks involved.

According to Jewish law, her condition made her ceremonially unclean. She wasn't supposed to be in public, and anyone she touched would also become unclean. She could have been stoned for being there. Yet she recognized that if healing was going to happen, she needed to take responsibility and make it happen.

Sometimes faith is spelled R-I-S-K. You have to move toward your miracle rather than waiting for it to come to you. This might mean coming forward during an altar call, seeking prayer, or taking steps of obedience that position you for breakthrough.

3. Speaking Faith-Filled Words

Mark 5:28 records what the woman said: "If I touch even his garments, I will be made well." The Amplified Bible indicates she "kept saying" this to herself repeatedly. She wasn't just thinking positive thoughts—she was speaking faith-filled words.

Proverbs 18:21 declares, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Your words have creative power. God used words to create the universe, and since we're made in His image, our words carry power too.

Instead of constantly speaking about problems, pain, and negative circumstances, we need to speak life. This doesn't mean denying reality, but choosing to focus on and declare God's promises rather than dwelling on difficulties.

The Connection Between Heart and Mouth

Second Corinthians 4:13 says, "Since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what has been written, 'I believed, and so I spoke,' we also believe, and so we also speak." Our believing heart affects our mouth, and our mouth can also change our heart.

Jesus said, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). If your heart is full of doubt and negativity, that's what will come out of your mouth. But you can use the principle of transmutation—just as water can become steam and steam can become water, your words can transform your heart into a believing heart.

God's Ways Are Discoverable

Psalm 25:4-5 records David's prayer: "Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long."

God's power doesn't flow randomly—it operates according to His ways and principles. When we discover these ways and align ourselves with them, we position ourselves to experience His power consistently rather than sporadically.

Life Application

This week, practice the three principles that activated God's power in the woman's life: hearing, moving, and speaking. Start each day by reading or listening to testimonies of God's faithfulness. Take deliberate steps toward the breakthrough you need—whether that's attending prayer meetings, seeking counsel, or making practical changes. Most importantly, speak life over your situation daily, declaring God's promises rather than rehearsing problems.

Ask yourself these questions: What stories of God's goodness am I filling my mind with? What practical steps can I take this week to position myself for breakthrough? What words am I speaking over my circumstances, and do they align with God's promises? How can I better understand and apply the spiritual laws that govern God's power in my life?

Remember, God has already provided everything you need through Jesus Christ. The key is learning to operate according to His principles so His power can flow freely in your life.
